What’s next?

Now you’ve submitted your application, what comes next?

Congratulations on submitting your application for the WA Training Awards 2023 and putting your achievements in the spotlight this year!

The WA Training Awards team has now completed quality assurance checks on every application to ensure each applicant has met all the eligibility criteria set out in the Application Guides.

This year we received the highest number of applications over the past five years! This record number cements the WA Training Awards as a prestigious program that recognises excellence in vocational education and training, whilst playing an important role in identifying and celebrating VET superstars.

Putting together an application for the WA Training Awards is not an easy thing to do. It’s designed to extract the best out of our applicants so our judging panels can understand the great lengths WA students, trainers, training organisations and employers go to in elevating the standard and outcomes of training in our State.

Completing an application in itself is a huge feat. It involves applicants having to explore and explain their capabilities, some for the first time, while putting themselves in the spotlight. For many of our winners and finalists, writing the application is one of the most rewarding parts of the process. Each applicant should be very proud of themselves regardless of the outcome.

Now you’ve submitted your application what can you expect next?

Shortlisting and Judging

Application shortlisting will take place between 22 May and 9 June across all Awards categories. During this process, your application will be assessed against the selection criteria for your category and the top applicants will be selected as semi-finalists.

For individuals, semi-finalists will be notified on Monday, 19 June by email from the WA Training Awards team. If you’re unsuccessful, you can request feedback about your application which may assist for future reference.

If you have been selected for interview, individual applicants will be invited to our judging day which will take place at North Metropolitan TAFE on Friday, 7 July. You will be provided with an interview preparation pack to help you get ready – this includes tips and tricks on how to nail your interview.

For regional applicants selected as semi-finalists, the WA Training Awards Team will be in touch to discuss travel and accommodation for you to attend the judging day.

For organisations, judging will take place between 19 and 28 July. The executive officer for your panel will contact you if a site visit or interview is deemed necessary during this time.

All finalists will be notified by the end of July following the Minister for Training’s announcement, and unsuccessful applicants are offered the opportunity to seek feedback.

The program culminates in a presentation dinner where finalists for each category are invited to attend the WA Training Awards. This year, the presentation will be held at the Perth Convention Centre on Thursday, 14 September where the winners of each category will be announced.

Good luck to all our applicants! We wish you every success!
